The new straton software version is now available. New features include S2 redundancy with ProfinetIO, IEC61850-7-420:2021 compliance for our SCL Editor, new TLS features such as secure straton T5 protocol and MODBUS-TCP, WSTRING support and a JSON library with additional function blocks.<\/p>\n

Support of WSTRING datatype and JSON library<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new version of the straton software is now available. New features are available like S2 redundancy with ProfinetIO, IEC61850-7-420:2021 compliance of our SCL Editor, new features with TLS like securing the straton T5 protocol as well as MODBUS-TCP, WSTRING support and finally a JSON library with additional functional blocks.<\/p>\n

Support of WSTRING datatype<\/strong><\/p>\n

The straton runtime now supports the WSTRING datatype. If you use straton for data sharing with databases, remote servers or with an HMI, the WSTRING datatype allows you to manipulate strings up to 32 000 characters in UNICODE.<\/p>\n

WSTRINGs can store a wide variety of characters, including those from different languages and cultures. That is, to store complex strings, such as multilingual strings and error messages, which can be displayed on an HMI. This gives the authorization to use multilingual and multicultural contexts, displaying information that is important to the users in their own languages.<\/p>\n

By using WSTRING Data Types to manipulate JSON, you can create more robust and flexible software applications that can handle structured data efficiently.<\/p>\n

JSON library\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A function block library is available for parsing and writing JSON records from the IEC61131-3 straton application. JSON has become a very popular format in recent years, and is generally used in conjunction with MQTT.<\/p>\n

JSON specifications have been widely adopted by the IT industry and are used to store and exchange structured data in many applications, including web and mobile applications, APIs and IoT. JSON is often used to encode data transmitted via MQTT.<\/p>\n

JSON is also a good alternative to XML, being much lighter and easier to read and write.<\/p>\n
