STRATON AUTOMATION offers a range of components which includes all the basic functionalities of the primary and secondary equipment of the energy and utilities market. The straton solution has been designed to simplify the configuration of standard industrial protocols.

In order to satisfy the growing demand for information in the energy sector, the main actors of the market such as power plants and electrical substations require more and more complex protocols and control applications. All primary and secondary equipment, such as electrical transformers, electrical autotransformers or high voltage circuit breakers are concerned.

straton : a software dedicated to the Energy and Utilities market

Automation systems must provide more and more information to the control room and other management systems. In order to provide access between systems and components, a number of standards have been developed: DNP3, IEC 60870-101, IEC 60870-104, IEC 61850 and IEC 61400.
straton is compatible with these standards to allow you to integrate quickly with a proven and certified solution. In addition, our protocols include support for the latest cyber security developments (IEC 62443 and IEC 62351).
STRATON AUTOMATION provides not only the protocol stack, but also the configuration and debugging tools that allow RTU manufacturers to quickly develop a new generation of products. For example for the 61850:

  • IEC 61850-6: SCL Editor
  • IEC 61850 Client and Server
  • IEC 61850-7-410/420 and IEC 61400: Sector-specific logic nodes
  • IEC 61850 Client : Test tool integrated to the Editor

How Brodersen benefited from the performance of straton software

Our collaboration with Brodersen started more than 15 years ago with an older generation of controllers. It did not take long to change the architecture for its new RTU32 product. Over the years, the company has taken advantage of STRATON AUTOMATION’s excellent energy stacks for the integration of the IEC 61850 protocol – the global standard for communication in power generation and distribution.

We were already using the straton Runtime as the PLC core in our RTU32 series, and the integration of the IEC61850 standard took only a few days!
