Soft PLCs: The Myriad of Myths and Misconceptions scheduled for Tuesday, 5 April 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET
Overview
The term Soft PLC has been used for many years to describe the software-based version of a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). A Soft PLC combines the functions of conventional PLCs with those of data loggers, communications gateways, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), web servers, and various other elements.
The Soft PLC approach offers numerous benefits to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and users. In the early days of Soft PLCs, industrial PC hardware was often used as the platform. This led to misconceptions about the Soft PLCs capabilities, as well as questions of reliability, ruggedness, and security. However, there are many implementations of Soft PLCs that defy these misconceptions.
This panel discussion will feature Soft PLC experts, leading PLC OEMs, and application engineers who will help dispel the myths and explore the benefits of the Soft PLC. Each participant will offer a unique perspective on this valuable tool and discuss future applications.
This interactive webinar event will be of interest to those unfamiliar with Soft PLCs, those who have dismissed Soft PLCs as not viable, and those who are looking to experiment with leading edge technology.
