Soft PLCs: The webinar “What is a Soft PLC?” will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm (CET) in partnership with ISA France.
The term Soft PLC has been used for many years to describe the software version of a programmable logic controller (PLC). A Soft PLC combines the functions of conventional PLCs with those of data loggers, communication gateways, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), web servers, and various other elements.
The Soft PLC approach offers many advantages to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and users. In the early days of soft PLCs, the platform was often industrial PCs. This led to misconceptions about the capabilities of this virtualization technology, as well as questions about reliability, robustness and security. However, there are many, many implementations of these solutions that counteract these misconceptions.
This interactive webinar will be of interest to those who are new to PLCs, those who consider them unviable, and those who are looking to experiment with cutting edge technology.
