Version 11.0 of the straton automation software is now available. New features are available like our HTML based monitoring tool, security through TLS for MQTT, communication with CAN FD, an ANSI C client library (connector) for the T5 event protocol, improvement of the Ethernet/IP configurator or the possibility to port the straton runtime to a 64-bit platform.
CAN (Controller Area Network) is the leading system for data communication/recording in the automotive and transport industry or for predictive maintenance …
There is a set of protocols for specifying how data is communicated between the CAN nodes in a given network, including CAN FD.
CAN FD (Flexible Datarate) allows up to 64 bytes (as opposed to 8 bits) for the payload of a message. Security through authentication is then improved.
The STRATON CANbus Configurator and Compiler now support CAN FD as well as another CAN bus type. The integration is now easier in the Dev Kit.
To increase speed CAN FD supports two bit rates: The nominal (arbitration) rate limited to 1 Mbit/s as in classical CAN – and the data rate, which depends on the network topology and the transceivers. In practice, data rates of up to 5 Mbit/s are feasible.
