The new version of the straton software is now available. New features are available like S2 redundancy with ProfinetIO, IEC61850-7-420:2021 compliance of our SCL Editor, new features for TLS like straton T5 protocol and MODBUS-TCP security and finally WSTRING support and a JSON library with functional blocks.
Since 2002, we have been committed to our customers’ satisfaction, so we hope that these new features and improvements will help you meet the challenges of your market. Find the presentation of the main new features of the version 12.0 of the automation software, straton. We have also made some improvements and propose a new design for this version.
Support of the WSTRING data type
The straton runtime now supports the WSTRING data type. If you use straton for data sharing with databases, remote servers or with an HMI, WSTRING allows you to manipulate strings up to 32 000 characters in UNICODE.
JSON Library
A function block library is available to parse and write JSON records from the IEC61131-3 certified straton application. JSON has become since a few years the most popular format, it is generally used with MQTT. JSON allows to replace the XML format.
SCL Editor – Compliance with the IEC 61850-7-420:2021 standard
The straton software has been following the evolution of the IEC61850 standard for years. The SCL editor now supports the 2021 edition of the IEC61850-7-420 standard, which means among other things that more than 30 logic nodes are now available. It is therefore possible to certify your products with this latest standard for Distributed Energy Resources (DER) communication systems.
Redundancy S2 ProfinetIO
The straton redundant runtime now supports S2 ProfinetIO redundancy. Active and passive servers connect to the device to allow a smooth change of the primary controller. This allows safe switching from the backup controller to the primary controller and avoids temporary network failures on the devices.
STRATON T5 protocol over TLS
A default implementation of TLS security is available for the STRATON T5 runtime, used between the runtime and the editor. It uses TLS encryption and bidirectional authentication using certificates. So you can easily integrate the T5 protocol into your own security system because the implementation in the runtime and editor is provided as source code.
TLS security for MODBUS-TCP
MODBUS TCP client or server connections can now be secured with TLS. MODBUS TCP uses TLS encryption and bidirectional authentication using certificates. The TLS settings for servers are done by a configuration file installed with the runtime. For client connections, the TLS parameters can be entered directly in the fieldbus configurator, which saves time for the configuration.
